Use of Digital Tools in Teaching – Examples of Good Practice
Chemistry
Topic: Physical and Chemical Properties and Changes of Substances
As part of the teaching unit Physical and Chemical Properties and Changes of Substances, students reinforced the material in an engaging way using the digital tool Blooket. Using this interactive platform, students completed a 30-question quiz, which allowed for quick knowledge assessment and fostered a competitive spirit. At the end of the activity, the system automatically ranked students based on the number of correct answers and the speed of completion, further motivating students to participate actively and engage fully in the task.
The use of Blooket in teaching contributes to:
-
Increased student motivation and interest
-
Active participation in the learning process
-
Development of digital competencies
-
Encouragement of competitive and investigative spirit
-
Easier and more efficient assessment of acquired knowledge
Students demonstrated a high level of understanding, resourcefulness, and interest in the topic. The digital tool Blooket proved to be highly effective in science education, as it combines learning and play in an interactive and stimulating way.
European Day of Languages
As every year, our students, together with their English and German teachers, celebrated European Day of Languages, which is observed on September 26th. The students were highly engaged and, through dynamic dialogues, presented different languages and language families, bringing energy and creativity to the lesson.
This year’s celebration was enriched by the use of modern ICT tools, which the teachers had mastered through participation in the Erasmus+ project. The knowledge and experience gained during international mobilities were incorporated into classroom practice, allowing students to experience language learning in a modern, engaging, and motivating way. They competed in Kahoot quizzes, solved digital puzzles, and enjoyed the challenges of an Escape Room, combining fun with learning.
Physics Review Lesson
During the physics review lesson held at the end of sixth grade, students applied the knowledge they had acquired throughout the course. The goal of the lesson was to revise and reinforce fundamental physics concepts and laws through the use of digital tools that promote interactivity and greater student engagement.
Students enthusiastically embraced working with the digital tools. During the lesson, they collaborated in groups, demonstrating strong teamwork and cooperation. Solving tasks together in the Baamboozle quiz encouraged the exchange of ideas, group discussion, and a sense of healthy competition. The use of Quizlet flashcards allowed for individual practice and knowledge assessment, while also helping students develop accuracy and speed. The competitive elements of these tools further motivated students, fostering a desire to perform their best and achieve success in answering questions.
English Language Review Lesson
During the review lesson conducted in two sixth-grade classes, students applied the knowledge they had acquired throughout the course. The digital tool Quizlet was used, allowing for the creation of interactive learning flashcards (both individually and in class), quizzes, and various games, which encourage active participation, faster learning, and effective organization of lesson content.
Students approached working with Quizlet with great interest and enthusiasm. During the lesson, they worked in groups, demonstrating strong collaboration and teamwork. Solving tasks together facilitated the exchange of ideas and joint decision-making. At the same time, the competitive aspect offered by Quizlet provided additional motivation, fostering students’ desire to respond quickly and accurately.
This approach successfully combined group work, collaboration, and competition, positively impacting student engagement and active participation.
Project: “Forgotten Games from Our Region”
On May 14, 2025, third-grade students, together with their homeroom teachers and English teacher, presented the project “Forgotten Games from Our Region.” A student from class 3/4, Ema Zlatković, created a presentation with the professional guidance of teacher Suzana Borović, using the digital tool Gamma, and presented traditional Serbian games in English.
The students recalled how children used to play in the past, and after the project presentation, they had the opportunity to try some of these games themselves during physical education class.
Public Forum by the Peer Team – Internet Violence and Online Safety
As part of the Peer Team activities, and applying knowledge gained from the Erasmus+ course on the use of ICT tools in teaching and extracurricular activities, a public forum was organized on the topic “Internet Violence – How to Recognize and Protect Yourself.” The aim of the activity was to promote digital literacy and awareness of the risks associated with the internet, as well as to guide students toward responsible and safe use of digital technologies.
After the Peer Team members’ presentation, which highlighted forms of internet violence and protection strategies, an interactive quiz was conducted using the Baamboozle tool. Six classes of lower grades (third and fourth grades) participated. Students worked in groups, answered questions, and shared answers collaboratively, promoting teamwork, peer learning, and a better understanding of the content. The competitive aspect of the quiz provided additional motivation, and the questions focused on recognizing different forms of internet violence, appropriate responses in risky situations, knowing whom to turn to for help, self-protection strategies, and safe internet use.
